Need generator parts for 71 bus
Hello,
I am busy refreshing my engine tin for my 1970 single cab. I have the car in the shop being painted now.....
Here were my discoveries of parts i need. First off, my fan wore out......it and the hub. The hub is different on this model bus, for the alternator was bigger, and the offset on the hub is opposite that for a bug. Also, the tin that goes on the generator that bolts to the fan shroud. Once again, one of these parts is different, due to the generator size.
Last thing needed is a fan belt pulley for above generator. The inner piece (next to generator) is cast iron and different than others.
Any help is greatly appreciated. You can pmail [email protected]

The 211 903 109 pulley has been obsolete for years...if you find a new one expect to pay ~$70 for it. A "normal" 12V pulley will fit but the belt alignment will be terrible unless you also put a spacer behind the crank pulley.
Both of the large sheetmetal pieces are different (only the small ring is the same as on a 30A generator or an alternator).
The 30 021 regulator for the 38A generator isn't obsolete yet, but they can be hard to find.
This may be a good time to consider an alternator conversion. If that's not in the budget you can downgrade to the 30A generator for which parts are still common (I recommend you also replace the regulator with the 30 019 if you go this route).

Thanks for the info. Any idea of sources for these items? The hub is critical as well for me.
A couple years back when i built the motor, I wish i would have thought about an alternator conversion. But I have a pretty new generator now, and you know how much the prices have gone up on this stuff.......so would like to fis what i got so to speak......
If anyone out there can find part numbers for these items that would be appreciated!
