You have to give the person(s) that created that 'scooter credit. It is some thing else. (no pun intended) Makes me think of Big Daddy Ed Roth (RIP)

I wonder if we can order one of those Corbin cars without an engine, and stick a Type 4 in there! Maybe a little too much power Image

What kind of HP does the Valkyrie make?

I think it's around 100-110. Saw one with twin superchargers (Magnacharger) and twin weber two barrels - real mean looking.

Valkyrie's use a flat six engine (like Porsche), are watercooled, and as already mentioned, they have the tranny intergrated into the case.

I've thought about putting one in my Ghia, I think you could make a real screamer. And, a VW doesn't weigh THAT much more than a fully loaded Goldwing with two large people on it... (The Goldwing uses the same engine, or at least used to. I'm not sure about the new ones)

The trick thign is, if you run the bike's tranny, you can easily hook up paddle shifters, just like an F1 car! WooHoo!

Bike powered cars aren't all that rare. I'm quite sure it'd be possible...

Both the Goldwing and Valkyrie motors ARE water cooled. The Valkyrie makes more hp with a little less torque than the Wing due to soild cam followers and more valve lift/timing. I think (but not sure) the newest ones are 1800cc. The transmission is intergrated into the motor assembly thus making for a lot of work.
As fas as performance goes...well there won't be any. Not with a motor that runs out of steam at 6000 rpm. Someone replied that a bug weighs about as much as a Wing loaded with 2 people. Yes true, but have you ever seen one of these things do anything you would described with words like "fast" or "quick"? No. Gold Wings have all the performance of a Winnebago, and the Valkyrie a Winnebago with sidepipes.
Any real go fast goodies would have to be custom work for your application. This includes headers, cams, bigger carbs/bigger injectors, head work, valve spring, etc...
If you guys think VW speed parts are pricey, then don't even look at Jap Bike stuff. How about $700-$1200 for a header and 3-4hp more? Cams can easily set you back $1000 or more. Add to this that almost no one seriously performance tunes this motor and the price gets that much higher.
Not trying to be a bung hole or anything, but I've been into VWs for years and Sport Bikes almost as long. I figured a reality check was in order.
Now, what if you got rid of the VW trans, went mid-engine using the Yamaha shaft drive to a live axle...Throw in a couple of small IHI turbos...

Horsepuckies!

First off the wing and valkyrie are quite a bit different. I've owned both.

Don't let the size fool you. The wing has 85 hp and weighs in at about 900 lbs. Pretty darn good HP/Weight ratio if you ask me.

I don't know what the stock valkyrie does HP wise, but mine just dyno tuned and has 126 HP.

I have an photo of the bike just after we bought it at http://www.weg.net/~vince/vince.jpg

Now for the techie stuff. The engine is a 1520cc flat 6 water cooled. Stuffing one in a VW would be a waste of money. If you can find a wrecked one the engine is going to cost at least three grand. You can build a kick ass type IV for that kind of money.

The valk engine is a torque monster, it is not a high RPM engine. I can have my wife and I both on the bike pulling a 300 lb trailer and can still pull away from most bikes. I have the revlimiter on mine set for 6000 RPM.

Visit http://www.valkyrieriders.com and check out the link called the Nickel Trick. It is something you will never be able to do with a VW engine. I know mine wont.

You know I have to be a bit strange. I have a water cooled 6 cyl bike with over 100 HP and a 4 cyl air cooled car with 40 hp.
