One of the reasons is incase the pedal pressure softens during bleeding, before the valve is fully closed, to insure that there is no syphoning of air back into the slave cylinder. Depending on who I was working with and how we communicated I don't remember using a hose very many times (it can be messy though).
Ditto.

The other reason I always use a container is I don't want brake fluid going all over the back of the drums and axles. It strips off paint. Sometimes you get a leak and can't avoid it, but if you can keep it all in a container you're better off. Brake fluid is nasty, nasty stuff.

Giving the bleeding another try with the advice everybody gave me.

Ebrake on, adjusters all tightened and the left side jacked up.

Fingers crossed!

I finished the buggy,

Got all my winter upgrades finished.

Going out for a testdrive tommorow. (Read: brakecheck and burnout check)

Currious about what the rear brace will do. Wonder if i will feel a difference.

Anyone got any burnout tips? Always in second gear right? And preload the gearbox?

(Not going to smoke the hell out of it)

I don't do burnouts........It's not worth it when you have big tires in the back.
If I had some little skinny stock tires it might be a different story but my 275/60-15 tires just grab too much to even want to spin without being hard on it.
I'm not interested in replacing my transmission.

I have the support bars and a mid mount along with a clutch that holds really good in the lower gears.

Just be ready for the buggy to go sideways really quickly.....I broke the tires loose hitting second gear hard when the pavement was damp and it scared the   out of me!!!!
It tried to come around and by the time I let off it was as far as I ever wanted to get sideways. A little farther and it would have done a 180......
That's the last time I hammered the throttle and speed shifted to second before it was pointed straight.

Oh okay,

Never tought that the handeling would change much while driving.

My tires arent that grippy. When i floor it in a turn comming from 1st to 2nd it can easily loose tracktion at the back. Not much but a little.
Maybe that will indeed be different now that the engine mounting forks are much stiffer.

The short wheel base is what makes it come around fast.........just be ready for it if you spin the tires on a curve or with the wheels turned a bit.

Very nice!

By the term "rear brace" are you talking about the brace to hold the engine and transmission mount/forks from jumping around when doing burnouts or hard cornering? There are several words here for the "brace" (Truss bar, Kaffer bar, Traction bar for example) if that is what you are talking about. It should be a must have if your are going to "play around".

As Clone said, especially if you have the shortened wheel base buggy, "things" happen more quickly than you would with a full length pan'd buggy so be prepared and start cautiously. Your rig it too nice to total the first time out (seen the results of it personally and more than once!)

G'day all!

Image

The test drive had to wait a little while because i had a dead battery. So after jumpstarting with my wife's daily i rolled out!

I let it warm up a little and feather throttled it for a few minutes.

Then some emergency stops from slow to high speed.

Brakes are great, it easely blocks the discs up front. Glad the many brake bleeding payed off.

I didnt test the linelock with a burnout. It was to crowed with people and cyclists at the dead end road i was gonna test it...
But i did test it while standing staitionairy and letting off the clutch.

It was only 8degr celcius so not a verry long drive.

To be continued (when its a bit warmer outsideImage)Image

Hi,

Cb performance suggested 25lb/h injectors but now i found a great deal on a set of new unused lucas injectors but they are 30lb/h

Would that be an issue?

I need to let the seller know by tonight....

Its 10am here now

I ran 32# injectors and they are good for 230 hp at 100% DC.
I now run 45# injectors and run them at 70% DC.
I wouldn't go any smaller than the 30#.........
I guess it depends om your target hp.

I plan to run my 96lb/hr set with a 1600ish engine. They'll work.
