Re: 250HP 1600dp
Well, I kinda got sidetracked with a supercharger on my stock 1600. I seemed like a good idea since everyone else has one
Since then I've pulled the motor to have my transmission serviced. It's back I just have not reinstalled it. Once I do that I can get some SC dyno numbers, I'm really interested in the torque as it's making 9psi at 2000rpms. It's like driving a small 2L
After I get the dyno numbers I can finish assembly of my turbo 1600. I needed to have the case re-machined as 3 of the bearings were too tight and make a final decision on the cam to use with my Los Panchitos.
I've got a good assortment of cams to choose from but I' think it needs to be pretty aggressive to keep up with the custom cam Chip got from Paradise.

Bahahaha! You've got much better heads and are much better behind the laptop than me! I don't think my little VWP cam is gonna make all the difference! E85 might help me though, just a little.MarioVelotta wrote: ↑Mon May 14, 2018 8:38 amI've got a good assortment of cams to choose from but I' think it needs to be pretty aggressive to keep up with the custom cam Chip got from Paradise.

Perhaps not useful info at all but I ran a very mild cam on my 1641ccm engine. Basically a W110 on 112 lobes by JPM which again allowed me to use 1.5 rockers. Not a lot of lift even with the 1.5`s. Changed the CB650 springs every second year/season even though I was not forced to since they did not loose a lot of tension.

Do you have any numbers or timeslips with that engine?

Thats crazy! Mine isn't crazy wild, definitely bigger than a w110 though! Just goes to show, an efficient turbo and good fuel make all the difference.Kalle wrote: ↑Tue May 15, 2018 6:28 am Perhaps not useful info at all but I ran a very mild cam on my 1641ccm engine. Re: 250HP 1600dp
Hi buguy,
Here you go:
- 1641ccm
- Mahle barrels and pistons.
- Scat 5.5 rods with Scat 625 rod bolts.
- Home ported CB044 heads with 650 springs.
- DPR 69mm crank.
- JPM version of a W110 cam.
- JPM Alu pushrods.
- Precision 5862 turbo with a T4 flange AR58.
- Custom exhaust and intake system using a PWR water to air intercooler and manifolds from vwspeedshop UK.
- E85 with a Aeromotive Eliminator in-tank fuel pump.
375 whp at 26psi and a fair bit above 400whp at 35 psi and 10.41/137mph in a heavy 67 but more importantly: really reliable with minimum maintenance and PLENTY of fun! Fully streetable and only minor issue was to get high enough oil temperature. It looks like this:
And Chip, I agree! Feel free to use a high lift and aggresive cam but you will have to leave with that choice afterwards and adapt to it with frequent valve spring checks and higher spring pressure - more wear and tear.
