lathe advice

Offroad VW based vehicles have problems/insights all their own. Not to mention the knowledge gained in VW durability.

So I'm starting to search for a metal lathe I can use for my own hobby purposes. I am not a machinist. But I am enthusiastic. ;-)

Found this Atlas on CL local to me. From images I get from a "atlas lathe" search, I think this is a 10F. I'd like to be well informed before I go look at it.

Can someone give me information on Atlas lathes?

I am sorta in the same boat. I received my dad's Craftsman (Sears) lathe after he passed away. In my search for information I found that my lathe is a re-badged Atlas. I don't know if the lathe you are looking at has a Craftsman counterpart, but it might be helpful when looking for any parts you might need. Having the model number is a helpful piece of information when conducting a search on more information.

I have an old Atlas-Craftsman lathe like the one Max showed and I have used it for years and it has been a great lathe and it is worn out. We also had one like it at work until it got replaced by a new one that broke the second year we had it, the old Atlas-Craftsman never had a problem LOL.
