Jim, the thing that makes the Schubeck so cool is that they are STOCK VW diameter (thats what this thread was asking about). No sleeving or welding should be required.
They have a special little BB (or pin) that rides in a half round slot that you drill with the supplied fixture. It is actually VERY simple to do with a drill press. In fact if any of the STF guys want to try the rollers, I will let you borrow my drill fixture so you dont have to buy it from Schubeck (with a returnable deposit so I make sure I get it back
).
I think these lifters would be better to use in the late model mag cases or an aluminum case that have the thicker lifter bores. This is simply because of the agressive nature of roller cams.
Another HUGE plus is that these things are 1/2 the weight of a stock VW lifter!
I will post some pics here in a little bit.

Thats right - Jakes are coming out too!MASSIVE TYPE IV wrote:My TIV drop in versions are being tested as we speak.. They don't require anything to keep them running true in the bores.. No keys, no guide plates- nuttin...
Plus the roller is ceramic
LOTS of good stuff coming out soon.
I would say that this next year in VW racing will be VERY exciting. The technology will DEFINATELY be going up a notch.
All classes should improve EXCEPT what use to be called Top Eliminator.
Without the Lauffers or Keoki running, there wont be too much big news is the world of unlimited VW powered cars.

thanks marty! so i'm to understand that these lifters will not wear out the mag case lifter bore .?
a good canadate may be a late model type 1 hydrolic case.thats if you don't want to gane the extra 25 lbs of the aluminum case.and have extra lifter support as well
are you going to run these in a mag case with no mods to the lifter bore area?
thanks again marty!!!
also just looked up the new roller -x lifters on the schubeck website
now i see what you are talking about
