The \"street car bar\" just got raised :)
Today, 3-22-03, at Carlsbad Raceway, Kris Lauffer, who is already the driver of the first flat-4 powered car into the 6's in the 1/4 mile, and first flat-4 to go 200, just set the street car world on it's collective butt with a 9.93 at 133 miles per hour in his street driven 'vert (I have personally seen him drive it to work)The 1/8th mile time was 6.29@110. This guy is running out of records to shatter....Congratulations Kris, Jason, and all the guys who fly the VW Paradise banner !! You guys friggin' ROCK !!!

Yes, he did. Kurt had run a 10.06, and that run gave him a 140.95 mph ( although Kurt has run 143 in another run)You gotta remember, too, that Kris' car does NOT run a turbo. When I talked to Jason, his brother,he said that they were going to try and fix the exhaust (I guess they kinda murdered it when Kris launched) and head back up for another run.Ill post more if I hear any more. Although, Bob, I wouldn't want to take Kris' vert over the grapevine every day...You gotta give me a ride in the "red sled" someday... *I* like the idea of a stock - looking red '69 with nothing but some nice wheels to give some poor unsuspecting fool any idea what is about to happen to him...

That 10 MPH difference tells me Kurt has too much H/P to put to the ground, about 80 extra. Where Kris has the E/T vs. MPH ratio right.
Yes Dave I need to give you and also Bill S. a ride.

Check out the video of the run here, and watch the Fat Mike video for some insane wheelie action! Looks like the front came up in both 2nd and 3rd gears.

Respectable? damn, what does it take to impress you?
I think a more appropriate word is "awesome".
