2 liter Porsche Wheels and lugbolts

2 liter Porsche Wheels and lugbolts

Post by Ephry73 »

I was wondering if I have to use the 914 lugbolts or if I could use stock ones when running these wheels in my Ghia.

Thanks.

Ephry,

You will have to use the Porsche lug bolts. I know, I have a set of 2.0 Fuchs and their bolts are longer. I guess I could go to the garage and pull one to show you. If you don't have these already, I got mine from Alex Mangro out of Tampa. He has several sets of wheels on the Samba. Just do a search for Porsche, in the wheels/tires section of classified, narrow down the field by searching only in Florida. Alex is a good person and will help. BTW, I really like my Fuchs. I am currently running 195/60/15 Goodyear Tripletread tires and they really make a difference. Since all Ghia bodies were hand made and fitted, you will have to check clearance. The passengers side rear has plenty of clearance (1-1 1/8") while the drivers side rear is only around 1/4-1/2". Go figure  BTW he also has center caps that will fit over the VW axles (they stick out further 1/8").

Good luck,

Thanks for the tip Kelly. Yeah, looks like with the stock rims and the 165 I have about 1.75" to play with. I really like the look of the 2 liter Fuchs, plus they are lighter than the stockers I have.

Ephry,

Check out Alex's website via the samba.com. Here it is:

http://www.magrowheels.com/ Both are from Alex.

I think you will like what you see. He has a few 2.0 Fuchs pictures on a Ghia.

Thanks Cohibra.

I decided to go with a set of Mahle 914 Pedrini looking wheels or Baby Gas Burners. For the money and what I get, not a bad deal.

I never really gave the 2.0 Fuchs a good look. But they might be just what I'm looking for. Has anybody seen any that have been powdercoated or painted?

Thanks Glenn. I just purchased a set of Mahle 914 wheels that come with the stock logbolts. I wonder how thick a spacer I will need for those. Cannot wait to get them to see the fit. Same thread pattern on both I notice.
