Well the rears are a direct bolt on. You'll need:

'85-86 944 S rear hubs
86 944 turbo backing plates and e-brake shoes
'85-86 944 S disc rotors
944 S or 944 Turbo calipers

You will also need an adapter made up to link th vw hand brake cable to the porsche e-brake cable.

I don't know about the fronts.... I'm sure its been done. Check out www.germanlook.com and see what they do.

As for if it's worth it, well you won't get better braking performance from any other system around. Porsche brakes are a must in my opinion for any car that has 150+ rwhp.

Well for the back you'll need what I mentioned above plus some wheel spacers.

They will need to be at least 25mm. Maybe as large as 35mm. Basically you'll install the brakes and then use some washers to work out how thick your spacers will need to be, then buy the correct thickness spacers.

8" wheels will not fit under stock guards, so your rear guards will need to be 1.5" to 2" wider than stock.

I have no idea about mcpherson strut front ends though...

The weight of the type4 will be fine. You'll use a stock vw master cylinder for starters, and later on option up to a 944 mc and a bias adjuster for the rear end. All this has been done on german look before.
