Project "Racelook"

Post by racelook »

So I thought I can better open an new thread for my bug. I'm restorating/building my 1303 S from 1974

I'm now more than 2,5 years bussy with this resto. This is how it stands now:
Image

At this point the follow things are done:
Chassis:
-Every rust is out. Several pieces of framehead, napoleonhead self made, 2 new floorpans welded in. Two 12mm fuellines installed (what an work was that, but there in). I'm now at the point where I'm bending my 6mm RVS brakelines. (after that the chassis has to be maked clean to bare metal and will be sprayed with paint)
Body:
-Every rust is out (after many, many hours of welding).. maybe there's some little spots left, but they will be welded when I make the body clean to bare metal.
-Race-fuelfiller from Sparco is in. (also lots of work with the home made holder for it)
-After 2 pair of verry crap doors, finally got 2 good doors. Both of the doors are smoothed, so there are no doorhandles anymore. (will be opend eletric)
-The enginelid is changed for an lid of an 1300 (without vents in it). I've started with making an metal scoop on it (almost 3 months ago, but has not finished it).
-The Remmele side-airscoops are "in", everything is prepped for the installation, they only have to be glued in.
-An aluminium highwing is also from the beginning of this project in my property. CAD/CAM drawings for new wing"foots" are ready and waiting to be machined (laser cut).
-An full rollcage is made by our self, more details can be found in this topic:
http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic ... t=rollcage
-Hole the body is cleaned from inside and outside. Every hook is smoothed, every not functional hole is close.
-Eberspacher heatchanger lays ready
-Kamei-spoiler lays ready
-Engine and gearbox will be for this time only been cleaned and painted.
-Stripping the paint and all the body work has to be done.

I will update this topic as fast as I can.

Greetings Wiebrand

So my first update:

This are honestly just pics of about two weeks ago (when I had some time). I've been busy (so I said in above answer) with putting in two fuellines of 12mm (where originally sits 1 of 6mm) in. It was verry verry ****ty work, but hell yeah someone got to do it.

At first an pic on which the holes on the backside are good to see. Also are the tules en the cut out piece verry good to see to get the lines in.

An detailpic.

To really get fuel from the front to the back they have to have an exit on the front.
http://www.keversite.nl/fotoalbum/fotos ... 232701.jpg

After thtat both sides where welded close.
-Backside

-Frontside

After a lot of "playing" with the Dremel I get this ending result.

I think it looks verry nice, just like off fabrique

Hello Wiebrand,

Your work looks great! Do you have pictures of how you tied down the lines inside the tunnel?

Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy.

No I don't have pics of the lines inside the tunnel. I've tried so photograf that but it was to dark so I couldn't get an good picture. But there is no extra tieding in the tunnel. The original tiedings are verry pain in the a$$ to get lose. And are on verry tight spots so I couldn't use them again. I've used some tyraps and that's all. The space for the tubes is verry tight (through the bigger size as the original ones) so the sit steddy. And through the rubber manchets in the front and back the lines sit verry good.

So, the breaklines are finally in. It did go quite good, exactly the long tube was verry tiedy to bend by the HRC.

Polyurethaan for al moving stuff for my chassis.

And today also begin with the making of the transmissionmount for the Cup-strebe.

I've welded two more pieces of steel in (in comparision with mount from other "factory's") for extra strength at the points were the tubes of the Cup-strebe will contact.
Looks nice huh?

Racelook,

I see that you have a bigger brake line coming from the master cylinder to the front brake lines. Can you tell me why you used that size? because I am also changing all of the brake lines on 74 cabrio and I could use some help.

Thanks, Supavert, Peace!

Hey Supavert.

I've used instead of the original lines, 6*1 mm Inox lines (originaly used for hydraulic equipments)

Lot's of succes.
