I replaced my stock twins with a single after #2 Turbo went out. I went the way of a cast mani and SP67 turbo. Has less lag than the stockers in TTC mode and is more linear than a T66.

I just cant wait till I get my T4 in the 72' Super.

120MPH down a steep stretch of blacktop one night in a highly geared ex racer that I bought. Was dropped on the deck, heaps of castor, circuit racing semi slicks, with custom built steering box, gear box, motor, etc... rediculously light weight too. Although the sound was deafening since it had 0 sound deadening and solid mounts plus you could feel every part of the road underneath you, however it was very stable. Been faster in alot of other things in alot more sever enviroments but this would of been the most fun highspeed run.

I recently read an article on the newest Corvette. Apparantly the new one is the fastest Corvette they've ever made and its top speed is 160mph. Interesting that you think your firechicken can go faster than the fastest Vette.

Car is most certainly not stock, so comparing it to any stock vehicle is out of the question. Figure it out for yourself... 26" tall tire, 2.56 rear gear, 1:1 trans ratio, ~5600 rpm. The calculator I just used said 172 mph, the one I used a while back said thats 169 mph, probably rounds different than the first one I used.

I've since changed the driveline combo for acceleration and can now only achieve about 135 mph without over revving the engie. The car has a 500-520 fwhp big block chevy engine in it. If you still don't want to believe that the car did it, fine...

Sationed in Naples, Italy 91-94. Travelled anytime i had the cash to do it. My stock, stock, stock 40 HP '72 Super (same as '73 here) got up to 80 mph coming out of the Hills near Florence. Did it again coming up from the south. Was night, area of construction where the 'strada was down to one lane. Was "chasing" a Mercedes and "chased" by impatient BMW. I was about 1 car length behind the Merc, and the BMW about 1 car length behind me. Pavement was poor and I was again running with my foot on the floor, prob about 130 kph or so. Drafting helped I suppose because normally I could not maintain that pace up the hills with only a 1200cc. Road was using up most of suspension. Very tense with nowhere to go if somebody screwed up. Fun but not wise.

160 kph was normal on our runs to Rome from Naples. 200 was about tops for my stocker '84 Rabbit 'vert. US Spec with 185K MILES on the odometer. Good highway car. My '97 Cabrio doesn't seem as eager to run that hard or as stable. Heavier car and softer suspension.

Tops was 135 mph on my '91 Kawasaki Concours 1000cc. Not bad for a touring bike with a big windshield and full luggage. Not happy though. Got hit with a headwind gust as I was exiting the highway and the front got VERY light...

55mph average in my '65 Beetle ('69 IRS pan, stock tranny, 2.0 Bus motor with BAS cooling, dual 36mm Dells, 4 wheel disc brakes) towing a Hyundai from VA to TN...

No, in my old age I get my kicks at legal speeds. <griN!>

Pegged the 100mph speedo on my lowered '77 std back in '92.

2007, p/p Pauter A heads, 40 Dells, Berg 1.5 mege exhaust and Stinger ignition, 4:12 trans, 205/65 rear tires, 185/65 fronts.

Given the shorter front tires I was probably at 100. I was just along for the ride because there was very little steering going on there

I had a 72 standard with a 1600.
I only had a 1 5/8 " merged exhaust, 40 webers, 195's up front, 205/65's rear, body lowered to the ground. The motor was stock but around 7,000 miles on rebuilt motor.
I held over 100mph over 24 miles (LA to Long Beach, Ca) Slowing only from the 105 to the 710 and 710 to 91.
I stayed out too long and was sleepy, I needed to get home quick.
Once I got home I was up! lol

I recently had my 81 el camino up to 140ish.
Spedo only goes to 85, had a friend behind me.
I still had much pedal left, just not enough foot to test the pedal!
I wonder what the cars were thinking as we passed them! lol

"195's up front"

So you were probably doing close to 90 then, that's still pretty fast!
