I have had it up to 90 in a 1303. 3.88r&p stock brakes. engine 2332 Type one The engine felt like it could go forever, but as soon as I got off the accelator pedal it felt like it was douwn shifting. The trans did not like it. Also when I got to work all over the deck lid it had puked oil, made a mess after setting. No gauges at all, but while it ran the power was on daul weber, exhaust, and Ignition system. The engine ran, all high performance parts, it was a work in progress. Now no where to work on it so it sit in storage until I can work on it.

Ive gone 100+ on quite a few occasions. I have a turbo, intercooled

2276 in a squareback. Combine this with a .77 4th gear and 17x 205x

40 tires and you cant help but spank BMWs Mustangs and the like on

freeways. Its not safe so dont try this at home kids...........

Too high CHT & oil temp, rings and cylinders not seated, valve guides worn, not enough of a breather system, oil leaks dripping on exhaust pipes.

hi
the heads fill up with too mucho oil and this backs up any crancase breathing you may or may not have then if you valve cover gaskets are marginal and you bails a little weak you will puke oil. hi load and hi oil pressure is a real test of you motors oil holding capabilities a good crankcase breather system is your freind here.

ive broke the 200kph barrier in my sqr on numerous ocasions now legally on the autobahn as well  it gets a little scary at those speeds and takes a lot of concentration to drive any distance and soon becomes tiresome i normally sit around 160 kph when im on a long run and the autobahn is unlimited. more and more is becomeing limited to 120kph :(

its not big and its not clever speed kills .

Got the '74 single cab just a tad over 160 Km/h or 100 Mph for short bursts from Baltimore to Harrisburg, think it was the 83. Here in Holland I've done 160 Km/h a few times on the A12 (Wally knows where that is :) ). Measured with a mechanical Porsche speedo that was new when it went into the single cab, with matching Porsche-coded tires. No temp gauge, well built 1776, 36 Dells, W100, Ahnendorp tweaked heads, Ahnendorp SS exhaust, increased gen/fan speed w 356 pulley. It took a daily 15 to 20 min @ 140 Km/h during the commute to work with ease though it didn't always feel very comfortable .. also because you can hardly hear the engine in a single cab. This engine has been to France this summer in my buddy's '67 Westy behind a long type 1 IRS tranny and will visit Scandinavia next summer, he's more the "cruizing" type though.

Cheers,

Brian

1974 Super with a 2180cc I touched 100. Front end started to float

1993 5.0 Mustang I hit 140 mph (Scary in that car). Lots of vibrations and loss of steering response.

In my Supra I hit 175 and was still climbing, but I was running out of road quick. At that speed there was no steering vibration and all four tires felt planted. All that when I was running the stock twin turbos.

I have no idea, as the front tires are smaller than stock, but I had a 1776 wound out with 215/60/15s on the back, so I had more on the top end than stock size. It was very low on the front, only about 2 inches between the frame head and the ground, and I ran 195/50/15s, so I think that's why it was very stable. I really didn't have too much trouble ever at whatever speed I travelled at. I'm guessing low 90s.

Bought my M3 in Michigan and drove it west. It had an odd wheel vibration(found out later that all 4 wheels were slightly bent) that would disappear above 117mph, so guess what speed I went at? Also wound it up on that trip in the middle of Wyoming somewhere, and hit about 170+. It has all the Dinan goodies on it, the software removing the speed limiter, and it runs 18" wheels, so again top end is faster than stock speedo reads, but slow off the start.

Stock 72 with a 4.125 box, hit 105 goin downhill, was scary, skated all over the place.

I've had my firebird up to 135ish on the 15 North, its fun, because in that car its like breaking the sound barrier. Vibrates like hell up until about 95, then after that its smooth sailing, like the approach to the sound barrier and then finally getting thru it and having a very smooth ride...

74 Super, with stock 1600, with just a header and pipe I- got it up to 87mph, and I got a ticket for it to. That was the first time I topped my car out, and I havent done it since.
The cop asked what I had in it because he thought VWs could only do 65!

Made a run from baton rouge, la to orlando, fl at speeds at around 90 - 95 may have broke 100 a couple times not sure since the speedo isn't working. Guy at rest area came up and said he was doing 85 and I passed him like he was standing still. This was on I-10. running a 2563 type 4 in a modified 74 super. I have to get new tires rated for high speed before I go any faster.
