912 gauges swap

I put aset of 912 gauges in my 71 ghia tack speedo fuel . I need some help my fuel gauge reads 3/4s an my tank is about 7 gallons low I have a new sending unit so thats good do I drop the oms not sure what to do ..speedo works but it seems to be off by about 8 mph like it will say 45 bit doing 37 . also it sounds like it could use a bushing or bearing .. thanks darren

you need to determine the ohm range of the fuel gauge.

Get a variable resistor with a range 10-180 ohm range and see how many ohms you need for full/empty. After you get those readings you can hopefully match one of the vdo senders. if you have access to 912 fuel sender measure resistance on that. This is trial and error process so 10-180 might not give you the correct results and you may need to get a lower/higher resistor to determine rating for the sender.
