Guest postings needs IP address

Post by davygrvy »

I don't think "Guest" postings should be anonymous.

Don't be silly. Guest postings shouldn't be allowed, period. IP addresses are worthless unless you have something to compare them against, or just want to know what general location someone is in.

That is one way to reduce the anonymous-ness of postings. For the tech savvy this wouldn't be a hard thing to bypass.

Some people can't figure out how to login, or use more than one computer a day. Anonymous is not evil by itself.

Judge the post by content, not by location.

sincerely,
IP Address: 67.1.38.111
Reverse DNS: 0-1pool38-111.nas2.eugene1.or.us.da.qwest.net
Browser identify string: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

i often judge by the poster. something that can't be done with guest logins. a username and a password is not a very difficult thing to manage
