We should probably eliminate the size checks for linked pics at least, that alone would go a long way.

For uploads I can see logic in file size limits but they should probably be based on some current net standard.
No ones on dialup, and no one is running an 800x600 monitor anymore.

Tapatalk will scale it to whatever you tell it to.

And pictures that big are huge when displayed on the screen. And much more storage required. The first is an inconvenience. Storage costs money. We can only go so far.

I'm hoping somebody can kind of work this out and suggest to others the most convenient way. I can make adjustments within limits.

Links are not a storage cost, not sure how the bandwidth works on external links.

The current 800x600 actually works fine size wise, but the software (on one end or the other) must scale it automagically.
I'm not sure if the BBS software can do it, but Tapatalk can apparently.

Doc are you still on phpbb 3.0?

Phpbb 3.1 introduces automatic picture size rescaling if you have certain software on the server. Many hosts have this installed as standard.

It helped a lot when i upgraded our UK split bus forum.

Tapatalk should rescale if you choose the right upload method which is the button to the left.

Something isn't setup correctly, as the image is resized by tapatalk, but the settings are preventing it displaying

Install this mod and it will do the resizing on phpbb 3.0 https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/ ... e_resizer/

Thanks for suggestions.

Pile, storing pics elsewhere and linking (like old days) is a no load situation for STF. Storing pics on STF server has taken our storage into the many gigabyte zone. We pay for that space.

STF has very few mods installed - on purpose. Since i am not able to do this on my own, we either have to pay or I have to go begging to someone who can help. I've burned out more than one generous guy over the years. Some imply that making changes and keeping constantly updated is not a big deal. If you are an expert, this may be true, but for the rest of us, not so much.

So, enough whine from me. I'll see what i can do.
