I'll second the recommendation on the nexus7 tablet. It is a really nice tablet for the money - especially since the second-gen model was just recently released. This has put a lot of the first-gen models on ebay for a really good price. I will be buying a second. :D
The first-gen model was excellent a year ago. No reason why it isn't excellent today. (I still use mine everyday - reading shoptalk, speedtalk, or an ebook).

Oh yeah, being a nexus device, you can keep its software up to date fairly easily.
