This post has been edited to NOTHING because it contained bad information....

See post below for information believed to be correct on how to find Comm Port Number using a USB/Serial adapter...

its still not working...ive made sure i have power going to the ms itself. i done have it hooked up to my motor as of yet, but it is all wired power and ground wise so that i can start playing with things. the power i have going to the ms unit is ignition.....so key on power. ive tried with both key on and off positions.

i'm on the usb/serial converter that diyautotune.com sells. I changed my computer settings to assign COM1 to it. I'm a bit re-re sometimes so I had commo issues because my MS1 was on regular code and I switched my laptop to extra code. once I uploaded the extra code to the MS1 all was well and I had coms.

I think I have given you some BUM INFORMATION.... Number I gave you for "Comm Port" is wrong ( its not in USB View) ....

Try this, in Windows, go to CONTROL PANEL >> SYSTEM >> HARDWARE >>DEVICE MANAGER>> and scroll down to "PORTS" the USB/Serial convert should be listed there with its port number....

I apologize as its been years since I did anything with serial ports.... I used to be quite good with serial ports and hardware, now a days they do not even put serial ports on computers....

Is that the port "Device Manager" says the USB/Serial adapter is on?

My only reference I can relate to is my desk top machine... Don't have a laptop (or net book ) at the moment... And its going to be different (comm port number) depending on whatever computer adapter
is used with...

from my understanding their is firmware loaded onto the ms. i bought this unit from Eric Allred (eallred here on stf) and he has a map currently loaded on the ms unit.

alright when you open up megatune>communications>settings

make sure it says:

COM1
10
9600

then click to test. if your firmare is good and your USB/serial adapter is working properly it will be talking.

I just read your reply, do you have the same version of MT on your computer or a newer one?
