Megasquirt and bouncing PW
Hï
i have posted a thread on msextra on my issues, but hope maybe someone here has som ideas.
i have MS II v 3.0 with the extra code 2.1.0d
the problem i'm having is PW bouncing 4-5ms under load/boost, even my viewable inputs are stable.this causes the engine not to run smoothly under boost MAP RPM IAT etc..
and it's easily seen on the log file.
i have problems finding which parameter causing the PW to bounce 4-5ms ...
i have turned off almost any correction available.
from the MS manual here's what calculates PW
MegaSquirt Fuel Equation
What MegaSquirt® does is take this downloaded REQ_FUEL number and then multiply (or adds) values that scale this number, to come up with the injected pulse width [PW]. Therefore, pulse width is:
PW = REQ_FUEL * VE * MAP * E + accel + Injector_open_time
The "E" above is the multiplied result of all enrichments, like warm-up, after-start, barometer and air temperature correction, closed-loop, etc:
E = gamma_Enrich = (Warmup/100) * (O2_Closed Loop/100) * (AirCorr/100) * (BaroCorr/100)

Battey Voltage = Megasquirt and bouncing PW
There is NO scale report for your Battery Voltage Log.
What is observed, a change in your Battery voltage.
Most EMS change PW when supply voltage changes.
Could this be your cause ?

Re: Megasquirt and bouncing PW
thx
there is a correction of 0.2ms/V setup.
tat should only add around 0.2ms on my voltage variation.
also tried to set it to "zero" but same same

Re: Megasquirt and bouncing PW
Can you post your data file? Looks like your manifold intake temp (MAT) is fluctuating, that would cause corrections. Not really enough info in the view.
I accidentally Googled my Twitter. (And I liked it)

Re: Megasquirt and bouncing PW
yes the IAT are fluctating a bit but only a 1-1.5 degree celsius which should not affect PW with those numbers.
i've been log'ing and testing all weekend here's just one of the many logfile's

Battey Voltage = 65 Us/Volt
The Redline EMS has a 65 us/volt (+/- 5) PW change.
My REAL question was :
What is your Battery Voltage change ?

Re: Megasquirt and bouncing PW
Fastback: there is not enough data in your log to figure out what is causing the bounce in p/w. Turn on more data streams, and repost. Posting your MSQ would help too. Normally, you'll see some other parameter that roughly follows the p/w and that's the problem. I don't think battery voltage is it, it's not mirroring p/w. It actually reminds me of how mine looked when I tried to use closed-loop EGO correction under boost.... You're not correcting with the wideband under boost, are you?

Re: Megasquirt and bouncing PW
the Voltage variation during drive/load goes from ~12.0V to 13.1V which should teoretically add 0.2ms to the PW.
agree with Mini .. u can't see any direct link from the change in Battvoltage to the PW bouncing.
since MS is relative cheap... i had 2 more available for other projects.
first i tried the second one i had which also had the latest firmware 2.1.0d , i had on the MS that has same issues.
same poop...
then i tried a third MS box that has a older firmware. dumped the VE and IGN tables + the basic settings for req fuel etc.
and the issue was gone
smooth power
then i took one of the MS boxes that had the newer firmware and loaded the old one , Msextra 2.0.0.
then that box also worked smooth.
so i asume there is a firmware issue..
PS does'nt Tunerstudio/MEgatune log all avaialble data default.. if not. were do change what to log or not to log.??

Ahhhh jeesh How am I suppose to find the problem It does look very odd... There is nothing that directly correlate to the jumping PW... It's a odd thing..
