1641 with MS parts list

Post by Onceler »

I've been working on my MS install since Nov. and I finally got it running the other day :D
I thought I would share my parts list with you guys since these forums helped me so much to learn, maybe someone might learn from this when they're starting out.

-1641cc w/ Scat C25 cam, everything else is stock 1600 DP.
-1996 1.9l Ford Escort throttle body w/ PWM idle valve and TPS
-2001 3.8l Ford Mustang injectors (pencil style, high z) 24lb./hr
-CB Perf. DP end castings with fuel rails, etc.
-homemade intake manifold
-1993 Ford Escort EDIS (module,vr sensor, coil, plug wires)
-Megasquirt 2 V.3 pcb
-Ford F-150 (E2000?) fuel pump
-homemade brackets and block-offs

I just got it running last week, and am relieved that it all actually works. I have the VE table running a little rich right now, but since I don't have a wideband yet, I think I'd rather run a little rich. The only issue I have is my idle MAP is at ~80 kPA at 800 rpm. All the vacuum leaks
have been addressed, so I think it may be from a valve adjusted too tight. Anyway I'll check that out when I get time.

Other than the idle issue, this has been an awesome project and I can't wait to get to drive it
on the road.

I'll try to post pic.'s when I get a working camera.

Maybe, what is your idle timing? If its low bump it up a bit. I had mine idle kpa real low but the idle timing was around 16-18* I have settles on a 60-70kpa idle (turbo) and 12* timing.

Congrats on the install, pics would be great!

Right now it's set at about 7* at idle, so I'll try bumping it up more. Thanks for the advice, Mario. and I'll try to get some pic.'s up soon.

Yeah try doubling that to start, it will idle way up coming from 7* so you may need to readjust your throttle stop down a little too.

Ow yeah and um pics

I haven't had time to adjust the initial timing, yet. I've been trying to finish up small odds and
ends like seatbelts, hood latches, and wipers. But I'll get to it. Thanks Mario and Miniman for the advice.

 yeah, it's just hangin' there. Not quite sure where to put it. Is the air cleaner ok, once I get one?

If you can put it in the manifold with a bung that would be best, but yeah that's fine for a N/A motor.

This is where RonW put his with ITB's

In the air cleaner would work for normally aspirated. You could also put it in your manifold.
