Wide band O2 sensor warm up time?
Does anyone know how long it takes a wide band O2 sensor to warm up?

Just found this on the MS site..........kinda answered my own question.
So technically you can kinda cold tune 20 secs after your initial start up
http://www.megamanual.com/PWC/LSU4.htmThe sensor takes about 20 seconds to reach operating temperature from a cold start.

...But you may get random spikes and funky readings from condensation in a cold exhaust system for about 5-10 minutes, depending on the load and outside temp.
(you see those water droplets spraying out of cold exhaust systems? O2 sensors hate water. Fear and loathing type Hate.)

zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

24.7 seconds...
Just let the sensor warm up before starting the engine if you need good numbers from startup.

Yup, wire it up with its own power and turn it on for a couple minutes before you start up.Steve Arndt wrote:24.7 seconds...

Re: Wide band O2 sensor warm up time?
I've found that if I turn the key over and start right away with the initial priming pulse, the engine will start. but if I turn the key over wait for 30 seconds then bump the ignition its harder to start. I think having a separate switch wired in to warm up the sensor is a good idea, but I think a momentary push button might be better. This way you don't forget to turn it off.
btw this is in reference to Megasquirt, I don't know much about the other EMSs yet. Also I still need work on my tune.

That's how I tell if I need to increase the cranking fuel a touch... Plus I turn up the "skip teeth" so it cranks a bit before sync to build some oil pressure.

Actually ALL the vendors recommend AGAINST doing that as any liquid water hitting the sensor can fracture it.panel wrote:Good ideaMarioVelotta wrote:

If you had it on an extension/heat sink setup (and vertical as it's supposed to be) it probably would not be an issue.
(I'm not saying you can't do it--I have. But ...)
