Kadron 40/44's and new 44's

Post by Snaxg »

I'm hoping someone could help me out here. I'm new to the group.

I have a 1915 that's been running great for years with 40/44 kadrons with 55/135 jets. I was chasing a small mouse that I thought may be an intake leak so I overtightened one of the carbs bending it and causing a big leak.

In a rush, I ordered the new 44's that were on sale and unreturnable. Long story short, I can't get them lean enough to run on my engine.

Is the only thing different on this carb the diameter of the throttle body? can I use my 40 throttle bodies and get back to whee I was?

I tried a bunch on combos and can't get it running well enough and hoping to not have to buy a new set of 40/44's.

Any help?

I'm curious myself as I have never even seen the bigger ones in person. As you noticed they are extremely simple to take apart, just keep calm. If the gaskets don't deform or tear/break I have no issues with no kit cleanups.

Myself I would try the 40 tops on the "new" 44 bottoms but wouldn't expect drive ability to be quite as good as it was.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
