Vacuum Port Plug Deteriorated on my 34 PICT 3

I was checking the oil on my 1973 Beetle when I looked up and noticed that the vacuum port plug on back of the carb was falling apart.
I was wondering why it was heating up so fast for a short 2.5 mile trip. I thought it was due to the outside temperature.
Anyway, off goes the very neat professional looking vacuum port plug that I bought at O Reilly Auto and back goes on a short piece of 3.5 MM I.D. vacuum hose with a screw in the end of it.
The point of this is, check your vacuum port plugs once in a while to see if they are loose or are falling apart.
