Hey all. Been a LONG time since I've posted anything here as I've sorta fallen out of the aircooled scene after many years. I do have an oddball question though and I'll warn you now this is a watercooled-type question.
I have a pair of 45 DRLA's I'm putting on my mk1 Jetta 8v counterflow head. It has been prepped up with a big cam, valvetrain, and lots of port work. I have a manifold that mounts the downdrafts inline above the header. My question is, does anybody know of a link (female/male) that can hook the two throttle shafts together just like the dual sidedraft guys use? I'm having a hell of a time finding someone that knows anything about downdrafts, and seeing as they're Dell's it's not making it any easier.
Any help or recommendation of who to talk to would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
-Mike

Do you really expect anything other than wild ass speculation without seeing a picture of your intake?
I've never used this company before but they seem to have a lot of the bits to join two throttle shafts together; http://www.piercemanifolds.com/category_s/181.htm

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Yeah you're totally right. Kinda hard to nail it without seeing it.sideshow wrote:Do you really expect anything other than wild ass speculation without seeing a picture of your intake?

Here's a pic of the manifold installed in the car with the carbs installed.
This isn't my car... I pilfered this from another site.

Btw: Thanks for that link slideshow I must have looked at every other site than that one. Looks like they've got everything I need and more. Should be able to sort it all out now.

Nope no hoodscoop. I'm not big on body mods. Kinda hard to tell from that pic, but apparently a 3.5" air cleaner will fit (so I've read). I've also got a set of "standoff" hood hinges that lift the rear of the hood up 1.5". The look is not for everyone, but it will function in my case. I always used standoffs on my bugs, so I thought it'd be kinda cool to run something like it on an old school mk1.gearheadgreg wrote:Bitchin setup, BTW. Hood scoop?

Cool - sounds good. I'd be surprised if 3.5" air filters would fit, but onward and upward.
Heh - I did the hood mod on a Toyota Rock Crawler pickup I owned - really helped with low speed cooling. More pics when appropriate, please.

Don't actually have the hinges yet (they're ordered)
And I'd imagine I would probably get a little flack for posting pics of a waterpumper on an aircooled site.
