Megajolt Edis module

Where/how is everybody mounting the Edis module (not the coilpack... the one that comes on the slanted metal mounting plate) on their cars? I know they are mounted under the hood on the factory cars they came off of... but does this need to be mounted up with the megajolt brain or can it be mounted somewhere closer in the engine bay?

Think trend is to do away with EDIS module and direct fire coil from ignition unit....

Why use it if you don't need it... In my mind it just introduces another point of possible failure....

I'm using megaJOLT... Not megasquirt. I believe I have to use the module. If I could I would as my friends have tons of LS COPS laying around.

Go to Megajolt site... Believe he has direct drivers for coils....

From what I can tell that article is in their "what we're working on" link... They never made it and I can't find the board for sale anywhere anyway... Thanks though.

From what I can gather, near the coil, between the sensor, it matters little. They appear to be durable and don't mind engine compartment life. That MJ controller I would protect by bringing it inside.

Thanks Sideshow that is what i have decided to do... megajolt is going under the dash of my buggy and the module might get mounted to the fan shroud or somewhere else in the engine compartment... not sure yet.

Believe MEGASQUIRT Uses same driver circuit for ignition control for COPS.... Why are you letting some suppliers inability to do something stopping you from doing what you want (run COP)... These system are supposed to be plug and play, but their not.... Driver circuit in no more than a transistor(?) and maybe a resistor or two on a heat sink.... And a few wires....

I mounted mine on a piece of thin plate and bolted it to the fan shroud where the coil is mounted. It was to keep the VR sensor wires fairly short.
Here is a pic. You can kind of see how it sits. I used the connector to hook up my wires.

Here is a pic of it on the bench.

All you need is to run your PIP/SAW wires to the ECU. The rest of them can stay in the engine compartment.

This was for my Megasquirt MS-1 EDIS but your Megajolt should be the same.

I found a better pic.

The 4 post terminal is for power and ground. I feed that from the Ignition switch. From there it goes to the coil/25UF filter and module.
The white terminal gets all the relevant wires from the module in the same order as the pins on the plug. That way I can remember what goes where without having to find out which on is pin #1.
The VR sensor wires go directly to the module.
I ran it that way for two years on my buggy without one wiring issue.

I mounted my MJ ECU in the rear seat area. It was an auto-X with no rear seat and it's better to mount things close to the center of gravity if you can. I wouldn't mount the ECU anywhere but inside the car and in no area where water might drip on it or if the floor gets wet. One issue I did have was I tried using a port tapped into the manifold for the MAP sensor to the ECU. Gas started collecting in that long line. Use a vacuum port directly on the carb.
