I got my kit in today. Now it's time to start planning how to wire the quad spark.

One thing I never thought about is availability of replacement parts. I pride myself on using parts of the shelf, and I got carried away with IGN4+QuadSpark. It's one of those things. I am sure they never go bad, but I will make sure to have a replacement available.

Does anyone know what is the stock application of IGN4?
The closest thing I got is 2002 Dodge Neon 2.0L coil Image. It looks similar, but it is not tower.
Last night I spent hours browsing the web for a stock application.

Does this look about right? Engine is set on tdc for cyl 1.

I mounted the sensor with ruffly 2mm distance. The instruction said 3 mm but it seemed a bit much, will it work better with 3 mm?

That is perfect for 80° falling edge trigger :D

2mm to 3mm is perfect. The cap can be surprisingly big. The factory spec is out to 5mm. I just couldn't get reliable low rpm triggering. At 3mm I could get per tooth hand spinning my drill press.

Mario,
How does the hall sensor get wired into the μsquirt?

+12v goes to, well, doh, switched +12v; does the ground go to the block, or does it go to μsquirt sensor ground?
where does the signal wire go?

I'm not home right now to verify but the hall output should goto optoin+ pin 30, then you can use any switch 12v and ground with the ecu grounds.

Vanagon owners.. I managed to install the hall sensor and the bracket without having to drop the engine and take off the tin, or the fan housing. It's doable, and it helps if you have a spare engine on hand to see how it fits..

"Stock" app for IGN-4

Post by Redline Weber »

The USPS LLV is an OEM App the uses the IGN-4 for ignition voltage generation.

They use this coil in LARGE quantities.

Thank you, Lance, that's something you would never think of.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

They use it in quantities? Does it mean it goes out frequently? :|

This is the closest picture I found from the LLV patent application:

I just confirmed that IGN-4 is not OE application for LLV. Instead, they use two -2pack tower coils, as depicted in the picture above.

The LLV coils look very much like GM DIS coils based on the illustration.

Nice coil packs, the LV pins stick out the other side.

They like 5A dwell current (w/uncontrolled dwell time) from memory, I grafted a set on my 75 Goldwing many moons ago, along with a ballast resistor.
Made a world of difference vs the anemic and ancient coils they came with.

The ms2-extra manuals should list a dwell time for those excellent coils that will throw 4"+ fat blue sparks at you on humid days.
