Alternator bearings

Anyone know if replacement alternator bearings are avail, and if so where? AL82N.

Mine was a new Bosch, 1.5 years old and both front and rear bearing have excessive play in them.

Do not know of any parts houses, but if you have numbers off bearings any "commercial bearing house" (check phone book) should be able to get bearings for you or convert numbers to another brand of bearings....

Suprised these bearings went out so quick, it was a 1.5 year old Alt Bosch. Would have expected that with a China alt.

how tight is your belt?

Fan imbalance is most often the culprit. I wouldn't trust this one without having it checked. Look closely at each fin, the factory welds little weights to them when balancing - if one falls off you should still be able to see evidence of where it was.

The belt was the normal tightness, not overly cranked. I did check the fan last night, it's not wobbly but it certainly could be out of balance, there was quite a bit of dust from off roading on it. Did not see any signs of a weight falling off, but with the dirt going in there the marks could have been sandblasted off.

Still, the last Alt lasted in the exact same conditions for over 10 years.
