WTB thing type 181 fan shroud for discection

Post by volkaholic1 »

I want a thing shroud in rough shape. My plan is to carefully drill out the spot welds and take it apart so that I can see what it would take to have a stamping plant gear up to make reproductions. Obviously I don't want to cut up a good shroud, but I can't use a super rusty or too beat up one either. If my plan works out, you will get 1 of the 1st reproductions at a huge discount.

A stamping plant would cost a fortune and a half - you might want to check with sheetmetal prototypers, who are used to smaller volume production. For a factory to gear up to make a lot of these, they'd need a lot of tooling - specialized and expensive, with a lead time of months, most likely. A prototyper could probably make what you need on a turret press in a matter of days, if you can give them the drawings. I've worked for prototype companies in the past, this would be right up their alley.
