New TRW T1 steering box

Post by markvwguy »

Does anyone know if the T1 steering box comes filled with gear oil? Or do I have to fill it?

Also, This one at center position has a detent, where there is a noticeable notch at center. Is this normal for the TRW box?

My Last new steering box was for last Bay window bus and I had to fill it.

Thanks,
Mark

The last TRW box I bought was filled with a liquid and that was years ago but there should be a plugged fill hole you can carefully open and check to see if it is filled.

The notch is a relief for the bolt that clamps the adapter for the "rag joint" to the mating splined part that the steering column to clamp/attaches to.
