Kerscher IRS sway bar bracket

Greetings--

Is there anyone who has and would be willing to take measurements from a Kerscher IRS rear sway bar bracket (the bracket that holds the sway bar to the torsion bar housing)? I am going to have a go at installing a 15mm 944 rear sway bar to my Super Beetle. I actually have everything needed (I pieced everything together very cheaply...I am probably $50 into this install at most.), but I'm not real happy with the brackets I made and would like to redesign them.

Thanks in advance

I used 944 chassis brackets bought from the dealer, welded to the torsion tube using a U-bolt cap. You could do something similar and leave it "bolt-on". I welded the u-bolt cap to the torsion tube then removed the bolt.

Hi John,

Some photos of the install to follow... (when Tapatalk stops messing me about!)

Initial mock up. However the Porsche chassis mounts couldn’t mount directly to the torsion tube as the bar would interfere with the chassis forks. So needed more metal to lift it off the tube.

After mock up, with U-bolts sized to match the torsion tube. I welded the u-bolt receiver to the tube and removed the bolt that wasn’t needed anymore.

Plate added on top:

And Porsche chassis mount added to that.
New bush retainers on top (a beetle part funnily enough).

The 20mm sway bar in that list is for the upgraded Sport pack. The standard rear bar is 14mm.

Hope that helps.

With hindsight, I could have got the bar tighter to the rear forks but I allowed some room for it to flex and I don’t have any ground clearance issues as it’s not excessively lowering.

I actually just decided to go with a Topline 19mm bar. With the brackets I made, I was getting interference from the swaybar with chassis elements. Great picture documentation.

I was working on redesigning my brackets using bolt together parts from an Acura SUV (long story), when it dawned on me to just use what I've used before.
