Totally aware. basically the idea was a car that corners good but enough ground clearance to be good down dirt roads. and enough power to be quick and accelerate out of corners good. but keep 4 seats and a nice stockish interior.

Although, the original 1302 rally races on a lot of roads we would now call "offroad". ;)
