I will make sections for each topic as you can only have so many links in one post. Hopefully this can be added to and make a sticky for reference for others, it definitely helps me.

Hand Packed Needle Bearings and Slick Shift

Pro Shift and Slick Shift are being replaced with Liberty Face Plates as they last longer, no topic on this yet. Folts is offering the conversion though.
Folts comments on it:
I am not sure how many of you are aware of liberty starting to make there face plate for use in the vw trans. They have been making them for the Honda trans axle for a while now.The problem is that they only make there parts for the early type 1 trans with a keyed style mainshaft.I went ahead and made 5 different style hubs that can use there some of there pieces for the bus 002 and 091 style and the 2d mendeola transaxle. You might ask why is this face plate better than the old pro ring style.I have been doing trans axle repair for some 38 years and the pro ring was used before i began. It is an antiquated system for the horsepower the cars are making now. Also with the pro ring system if you miss a gear you junk the slider engagement teeth and now the trans won't shift. The face plate inner splines are separate from the engagement dogs. There is a lot more surface area on the face plate dogs so they should last a lot longer in the long run saving money. The picture of the first and second is the face plates installed. They will be welded in place to keep them from spinning. I only showed the face plate parts for first and second but third and 4th can also be done.
