I used to fumble with my calipers trying to measure the curvature of the shift plate springs, then I came up with the idea to simply trace the shape out on a template. This is much faster and easier to use.
The last trans core I opened was a rebuild by an unknown shop. This is how wide the springs were bent. What is the purpose of doing this? I always bend them to the size VW specifies and unsurprisingly, they always work just fine.
Discuss VW transaxles and transmissions. Gearheads wanted!
