Would the torque converter off of a T4 be better? What about from a bus(p.s. Would it be bigger in a bus like flywheels? Or same size?
T2 TC in a T3 with a T4 1700?

The stall speeds may be different, but a more powerful motor will increase the stall speed somewhat.
AFAIK the Tq converters are all very similar and perhaps interchangeable...
The transmission part on early and late (t3/T4/bus and Vanagon) are virtually identical except for the governor setup, ~same as Mk1-Mk2 era Golf/Audi just has a different diff section.
The Vanagon diff section is heavier duty for a very beefy 1 ton cargo vehicle.
(The early designs use a vacuum governor, the later setups use much more flexible/easily adjustable throttle cable operated "load sensing")
The main thing wrong with any of the older automatics for aircooled or vanagon is the final drive provides very short legs and has higer internal losses vs a std (~15% vs ~25%) largely due to the non lockup converter.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
