==best penetrating oil---

Post by MNAirHead »

While working on our trailer this weekend, I had a neighbor stop by and ask about the best penetrating oil...

My guess was that it was PB Blaster... does anyone have somthing better

Heat doesn't count.[/i]

Try a 50% kerosene and 50% ATF mix. PB blaster is good though.

Any commercial products work well if you let them soak long enough. Don't get in too big a hurry.

That said, heat + paraffin works better than anything - no heat, I know :)

There are plenty of good oils, the best is the one you have handy.
I'm kind of fond of Kroil, but haven't bought any in a few years.Image

Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Ther are a lot of good ones. Some have specific use methods. Parrifin is one of the best for getting out stripped studs. Heat the stud with a torch. This expands fissures. Rub/drip parrifin on it. As it cools and contracts, the parriffin is pulled into the fissures. A couple raps with a malle while this is happening...and 90% of bolts/studs twist out. The PB blaster is very similiar in function and content save for the PTFE in it. Ray

THAT is a great one... :lol:

In a pinch, I have used brake fluid. It is a skinny oil and it kreeps into the threads. Better than nothing. :P
Works really good at like the U-pullem part's places, there are lots of master cylinder's around with fluid in them.

I am a fan of Kroyl also probably be cause I like the smell the best of all of them :lol: I save some $$$ by buying the big can and putting it into one of thoes Harbor Freight DIY aerosol cans makes it a heck of alot easyer to use.

I like the trick w/ parafin I'll have to try it thanks

best lubricating oil

I agree with Manny. Mouse Milk is the best I have found. Leaves almost no residue for dust to stick to. I believe it is intended for airplane control picots and cables.
