I need a measurement

Post by vroooommm »

I hope some one can help me out. I am in the process of replacing the front pan head on my 1973 VW bug pan. Unfortunately all the paper work with all my previuos dimensions was missed placed . Can someone please take a measurement for me? I need a reference measurement from the front interior side of the crossbrace ( the mastercylinder is mounted to ) to the front edge of the shifter hole. Just take a tape measure from the vertical face of the crossbrace run it down the shifter tuneel to the edge of the shifter hole.
Thanks,
joe s

I looked twice, thinking someone had replied....
My son has a `77 at home, that dimension should be the same. The car I drove to work is a `69, and the shifter hole was relocated in `73. Maybe I can get it for you tonight but it'll be 4 hours or so from now.

I get about 22-3/8" to 22-7/16" from the firewall (nearest point to engine) to the center of the front shifter bolt hole.

That matches up with my reference marks. Thanks a bunch. I owe you one.
