Sandblasting Rims

Post by celticbob »

A friend of mine just got a sandblaster and has yet to try it out. We are thinking of doing the rims on my 71 beetle. What media and pressure should we use so we can remove the paint but not ruin the rims??

Hey Bob, when I get to work I'll look what I use, I've done dozens of rims succesfully.

Thanks allot
rims are still smooth, just that the silver paint is flaking off and looks terrible. I want to get them blasted and cleaned before i spray them.

Copper slag or aluminum oxide - whichever is cheaper in your part of the country. I use al ox for just about everything because Alcoa is in my home hometown :) but either will work.
