Dual Carb Manifold Installation

Post by Glenn »

Here's another:

Installing dual IDF/DLRA manifolds is a major pain, but you can make it alot easier.

I cut a 1.5" hole in the fender well. These give me access to #1 and #3 spark plugs. They also give access to the front intake head studs.

I use special M8 nuts with a 11mm head.

I use a 1/4" drive 11mm swivel socket on a 6" locking extension with a 1/4" rachet. All are made by S/K.

I first mount the carb onto the manifold and then bolt the manifold to the head. The rachet fits through the hole and easily tightens the nut on the stud.

I borrowed a DRLA motor for 6 months and I used similar to avoid cutting any holes. Carbs and manifolds came off together to access 'plugs for conveniance.

Are those 11mm nuts bronze? or similar?

They're steel. I get them from GBE.
