Looking around at Ceramic coating an exhaust.

I had one years ago coated black (on a car that ran perpetually rich) and it didn't last as long as the Rusto Rattlebomb BBQ paint.
Some I had done professionally, for a huge amount of money, in silver, lasted OK.

Word has it that Tech Line coatings supply most all of the people doing this these days.
They only sell directly to wholesalers, apparently, not just us little guys.

Anybody know who sells this stuff retail?

Eastwood has a kit that has similar products for similar prices.
But, somehow, these look like different products...

Who out there has ever had any luck with DIY exhaust stuff?

Por black velvet works great and is easy to touch up. I just brush it on. I had bad luck the only time I tried techline silver exhaust coating.
One pint of Por black velvet is enough to paint two headers easy.

They sell all the coatings that can be applied DIY in retail sizes.

I had mine done by Jet Hot years ago. 8 years later I had a valve punch a hole in my case and since i was only 3 miles from home, i continued to drive it. There was oil everywhere and it was cooked on my exhaust. I called Jet Hot about recoating it and was told there's a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I explained that the problem was not due to them but was told it was covered. It came back looking brand new and they even paid the return postage.

So in my case it was money well spent.

The only problem I have with TechLine, is that they WON't Sell their premium products to an occasional user. The retail DIY Stuff is Marginal in some cases (Especially their Ceramics... Dry Film Lubricants can be OK... thermal barriers as well... but their good ceramics and Diamondize are limited to approved applicators.)

... But the Black Satin (exhaust) and piston/chamber insulator stuff IS available retail, and for most of our uses it rocks.
They seem to only sell the water based stuff retail.
The industrial products that require a ventilated spray hood and/or high temp N2 purge or vacuum oven cure are not for obvious reasons.
(If you have an N2 purged or vacuum kiln in your garage they might consider you as an industrial customer)

... but the OP was asking about Exhaust Coatings...

I don't remember the requirements to be recognized on everything else, but there's a training issue and a specific investment required to get qualified as an applicator for some of their products. Some are also only available to a certain amount of people in an area as well. I looked into it with more interest about 4 years back. Unless they've changed their tune (Done a 180), they're not gonna be easy to get authorized by, unless you spend a small fortune.

Black Satin is still an excellent DIY, water based exhaust coating, available retail.

Yes... Check out their "Diamondyze" stuff on their site. Looks amazing for a conversion coating or whatever it is. I would love to do my Piston faces and other items with it to see if it is what they say.
