Bending Stainless Steel Exhaust (repair)

Post by ProctorSilex »

I have a dual tip exhaust on my Miata. It is stainless steel and the tube is about 2" in diameter. I bent one tip in an accident. This tip comes out of the muffler and makes a 90 degree elbow. The elbow is bent 10-15 degrees up and towards the center line. What is a good way to bend it back?
I have a propane torch and a 5# slide hammer. I should have access to an oxy-acetylene torch.

Thank you

I'd try to find a bit of pipe that fits well over the OD and simply crank it back.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Good idea. I will see if I have anything that could fit.
Thanks

Pile has a good idea. Depending on the SS it can be soft to bend or difficult to bend and can fracture. Try it w/o heat first.
