Conversion Flywheel question

Post by The Fix »

Jake I ordered a 210mm Conversion Flywheel #10008 #16630 (order #127) from your online store and I was sent a 215mm Flywheel. My question is will that flywheel work with my 74 type I transmission and will I have to modify the bell housing?

I have now exchanged my 210mm PP and disk for a 215mm set and would prefer to keep the 215mm set up.

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Jon

The OD of the 210 and 215 flywheels are the same. The ID of the 215 is the only difference. If you use the 215 pressure plate it will slide right in just as the 210 unit will, same starter engagement as well.

Hey, that is my flywheel! http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic ... highlight=

I was sent the wrong model 215mm.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

We had some 215s get into a bin filled with 210s a while back..

You guys that got the 215 got a much stronger arrangement than the 210!

I had to have a run of 1000 of the 7mm bolts made of grade 12 material just because no one had any that were better than grade 2..

Hey I am not complaining, just trying to see is I will have any problems down the road when I go to install it. I still need to get those bolts as mentioned in my other post.

Thanks, Jon

Specify that you need the 7mm units, not 8mm.

This is strange! Last week, my 210PP bolted right up to the
forged 215mm FW off of a Wasser!

I dint think that a 210PP would bolt up to a 215?

That is weird; the 215 bus PP will not bolt up to a wasser 228mm (Forged) or a 2 liter 228 Bus (cast).

I measure the hole spacing on 228 (cast & forged), Porsche 215, and bus 215 PP. Each one is different; nearest I can tell nothing interchanges.

9 1/4" bolt circle 228mm clutch
9" PCD 210 (or I think that is what it is)
9 3/8" PCD 215 Porsche
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.
