Sanding

Post by DutchBug »

Hi,
I'm doing some paintwork on one of my bugs, it was rolled before by its previous owner. I'm not spending to much time on it but some parts where white and I want it to be red.

I have been sanding its rear end now (see pic0 and was wondering if i should sand it down to bare metal or if this will do?

Thanky!

Ludwig

As you can see on the fenders the paint job is not so pretty but I will leave it this way, I will sell this bug and the work I would have to do isn't paying. :)

If it's pretty smooth now (bang down high spots and fill anything that isn't with bondo and sand), spray with a few coats of high build primer. Sand that with 600 grit paper and you'll be ready for paint.

Have the high build primer tinted red or sorta red and you'll use much less paint to get good coverage.

Great, thanks.

The surface is very smooth, i can't feel the orange paint. There is a small hole which I will fill with led.
