I'm a fan of polycarbonite disks on a Makita disk sander.. I then take it (or am careful) and blast all the detail stuff.

That's a good thread. Will it still be here in 6-8 mo's when I need it or should I just ask again? BTW I am into a 914 as of yesterday. Cut out minor rust spots today and will do battery tray/support, partial wheel well after I find parts. Body work next and maybe paint in 8 mo's.

Go ahead and post again.... many times the strategy is specific to your car and the exact situation.

I seen a neat trick recently - apply chemical stripper - then cover with plastic sheet - garbage bag etc.. (this prevents the stripper from drying out) - leave over night then remove bag - paint should come off with it!also less messy than scraping etc..
