WBX swap idea

Post by westypoo »

so ive taken ownership of an early baywindow panel. as i love my WBX swap that i did in my superbeetle, i figure why not swap one into a baywindow?! i did a quick google images search and didnt really come up with nothing but a bunch of suby swaps. im thinking of a wbx in a baywindow maybe with a supercharger on it would be quite good up all these mountains up here in colorado. thoughts anyone?

A turbo would probably work out better, the 3 1/2 main bearings really don't provide enough support to drive a blower reliably at decent boost levels... Maybe with one of the aircraft cranks with the super-sized snout bearing and block insert...
Plus, you have plenty of room for plumbing in a bus.
Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

turbo is always an option as my beetle as you know is turbo'd WBX'er. was also thinking of just building a bigger displacement motor and just keep it N/A. but you bring a good point about the main bearings not being strong enough probably for a supercharger.
