Newbie in the UK

Post by bugtub »

Hi guys as I have now pretty much finished may daughters buggy http://beachbuggybrummies.co.uk/buggy-b ... ld-part-3/
I thought its time to start something for me. My intended engine is going to be an oxyboxer . I have acquired a 2.1 dj engine. As I have never done an Oxyboxer before I have lots of questions I apologise now if some of them are very basic we all have to start somewhere I have gone through old post and done some searches but still have questions. First one is there anything I need to be aware of when stripping the engine I have done type 1 engines and assume its pretty much the same. Secondly is it possible/ok to cut the water jacket of with a die grinder as in the UK no one is set up to machine this type of engine

good to see someone else doing one. I have one being machined right now I can post the pictures as it goes along so you can see how they're doing it. Rocky Jennings is doing the work.

Hi 58bug thanks for the reply I have looked at your pictures very nice job . From what I can see most of the water jacket can be cut off by hand but I will need the face machining, looking at it any machine that works on type one stuff should be able to do it. Are your offset thread inserts aluminium ? I had it in my mind they would have to be steel
