oil pressure and temp advice

Post by chancee »

Hi guys
I have fitted a VDO 5 bar oil pressure guage to my new build (new bearings etc etc etc) type IV 2056, currently running morris 30 but about to change to 20 50 vr1 valvoline.
I have fitted a 5 bar guage but dont really understand why there is a 10 bar vdo as well. Does that mean if my engine is reading 6 bar it will be off the guage? (presumable that would be very high for this engine?) - sounds and i am sure is a dumb question lol
My question is do you guys have any idea what the bar it should read on tickover when cold and also when warmed up?
I dont have a rev counter fitted yet or oil temp thats next weekend.

Started up to test the guage tonight it measured a tad over 3 bar (it hasnt been run for two weeks)

If anybody knows what the oil temp should read that would be hand as well _ I think my guage is calibrated in farenhiet.

I just also wanted to say thanks for your help and advice over the last three years most of the time spent lurking in the background. Really pleased with what we have built

Cheers

Colin
