Re: Stronger valve springs
Most builders use T1 springs, coil bind checks are vital with hi lift cams and ratio rockers, longer valves are a good idea, some sink the valves, or machine the spring pockets deeper.

Re: Stronger valve springs
Berg also sells retainers with an extra .100" installed height.
That by itself will just about get you there, although the springs seats need cut a tad to fit hardened shims for any HP app.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

Re: Stronger valve springs
Which T1 springs are suitable when using original wbx valves and how much is possible cut down valve spring pockets.
I think, using longer than stock valves makes getting rocker geometry correct harder?!
Why I´m asking, building engine with adjustable fuel injection and hi performance t-1 cam with type 1 lifters. So, engine will see ( I hope ) near 7000r/min.

Re: Stronger valve springs
I have machined spring seats @ ".050 in the past , but up to 1mm is safe, but it limits porting work in the inlet port, contrary to advice, the port bump can almost come right out with uncut seats , not so with cut ones, be carefull, they can break through . Pile mentioned high lift spring retainers, the berg part no is. GB 281a. and you do have to check the geometry anyway, as you mention a T1 lifter conversion on it, the pushrods need to be longer than the stock hydro ones because they sit deeper in the T1 lifter, so getting it right first time is important, or pay the price later. good luck with it all.
