WBX head stud's torque

Post by fastback »

I had to replace my headstuds to longer ones due to stroking and longer rods.
so finally got some made to measure from the same quality as stock ones "12.9"
the stock ones are 7mm diameter with 10mm nut 1.5mm pitch and is torqued to 45Nm
the new ones are 10mm diameter with 3/8 24 pitch .

any suggestions to torque on the studs?
(high boost turbocharged engine)

Hi Fasty, my Okrasa studs are 10mm but came with no info so i do them stock settings with no probs at 10.9 cr but the thread pitch is stock, you probably know already, but finer pitch offers more clamping force and obviously, coarse less so, some times we are pioneers, i think i would torque a bit less with a turbo and 10mm. 8)

oh really? the okrasa /oettinger ones are 10mm stock.
hmm. interesting.
quick math , the 3/8 24 will give ~50% more "stretch" in the studs than the stock 1,5mm pitch , won't it?
i was considering torque the 10mm ones aprox the same as the stock ones to give it that extra hold.
