WBX valveguides with K-line inserts sucks oil

Post by fastback »

I had a set of WBX heads done a while a go with new K-line inserts and some larger titanium valves
done by a proffessional. (JPM of sweden)
the thing is that almost from day 1 these heads have pulled oil through the valve stems and i have now taken the engine apart. it has only a few hundred miles on it and the valves has only minor play in the guides (compared to used stock wbx guides) but i could clearly see oil under the 4 inletguides+ the engine smokes heavily after swaping to these heads.

could it be that the K-line inserts actally need a sort of valve seals?
could this be caused by the internal groove ( see pic)??

Hey up Fasty, hows it going, yep, i used them a few times on aircooled race motors to save pulling guides, and they do suck oil, my crew say it puffs smoke out of the turns when ever i get back on the gas, i chose not to worry as i was planning to change to Wassers as you know. your fix would be worth a try so long as they dont get near the retainer at full lift. i still think the liners are a good fix tho'...
