Actually the second picture at the beginning of this thread shows me what I need to know

I will try some mockups to see what can be done with what I have.
The DG top piston ring is too high to shave the piston along with the valve notches.
If you have a staight edge, a picture like on the Go-Westy site with all pistons linked with the straight-edge on top (pictured head on centered) would be most informative along with depth mic measurements to the peak of the valve notches. I'm just saying :D .
I don't believe we ever got the DF piston version in the USA.
Thanks for the pictures though.
I may just use the MV pistons, opening the valve notches along with the abscence of the head gaskets then put some pressure through the 48 dellortos :wink:

i did test assemble a 2,1 turbo engine today,
with stock rods MV pistons,
stock valves
Eagle 286° turbo cam with 9,6mm lift @cam
1,1:1 rockers,
turned the valve adjusters 2,5 mm in from "zero lash"

no hitting the pistons.

How do DH pistons compare? I remember hearing somewhere that 1.9 and DJ pistons are similar, although now it seems like they may have been referring to a DG. I have my DH in pieces right now and am curious.

All 1.9 pistons are the same... but I did find out that some had a deeper valve cutaway but this had nothing to do with the engine #
opened a DG engine today and one piston had one circlip missing :roll:
wbx19.jpg
DF= 3,75mm
MV= 4,5mm
DJ = 4,8mm

Have many pistons with this typical damage

Some had also damage at the hydros... done by the pushrods...

good info on the valve pockets!
yeah when the hydros get worn and noisy, the pushrod is all over the place.
hitting the lifter in random places :)
