Need mild cam advice, 2275 82x94 type 1 with T3 automatic in trike

Post by Rog_Allen »

Hi all.
Updated my build to a 82x94 in coments below 12-21-2019 thanks

I'm looking to figure out best cam to go with a full automatic transmission in my trike build
Building a 1914
Case is getting machined

I bought >>>>>>*
69mm CW crank 8 pin and balanced
I beam rods. 5.4"
40x35.5. HP stage 1 port polished heads with dual springs , stainless valve

Now i'm going order
1914. 94x69mm Forged JE pistons with liners

Looking at dual 40mm IDE carbs " Weber copies" ????
Looking for new rockers also ???

What cam you all think go good with my auto trans and my combo ??
I like drive like an old man mostly but do like to get on it and enjoy some power 😁

I keep looking and reading forums.s but not much on autos

So far I'm thinking on maybe engle W110
Please any and all advise helpful
Thanks Rog

I would use the Engle FK-41 with a street style 1.25 rocker with a single HD spring. Big torque, easy on the valve train, very drivable from 1000 rpm to 4500 would be great with the 3 speed auto t-3 trans.

Just curious why the expensive pistons? Are you planning on 30+ lbs of boost? If not then you would be fine with Mahle or AA. I don't have any experience with Auto trans requirements but there is almost always a better choice than a 110.
Good Luck

Been awhile , plans changed since this post
Haven't started mock up yet but soon

Decided to build a 2275 82x94 low end stroker torque engine,
Most stuff I got is from AA performance

Stuff I bought already

New aluminum-super-case
AA performance plus engine kit , 82x94 chevy jurnals, 5.5 H rods , maul pistons
New AA performance heads stage 1 port polish, 40x35.5
Because of my auto trans I bought a small engle 100 cam and lifters, clearanced for stroke , along with CB 1.24 swivel feet rockers going shoot for 8,5 -1 compression

AA cut to length push rods
New dual 40 IDF carbs from AA

I have much more but too much to list it all......... alot more to get yet , its taking me awhile, I'm just an old disabled and very poor guy but I will get there lol πŸ˜‰ ,

Harold Carter "Gearboxshop owner" out of California newly built and shipped me a sweet T3 trans and converter

Says with the engle 100 using 1.24 rockers you need double valve springs , dont like this was hoping to run single HD
Any experience or thoughts greatly appreciated
Thanks

In your set up I would probably go for duals as the trike will pull through the revs pretty quick, I personally run a W110 with 1.25's on hd singles, shimmed for a touch more seat pressure, but it's in a full weight bug and smaller displacement that rarely sees above 4000rpm

πŸ‘ my heads came with dual springs, they say to fire it up and brake the cam in with one set , then add the other spring back afterwards,
Would you know what spring to leave in on first fire up ? The inner or outer ?

Say do you know or can someone chime in please .....
if using 5.5 rods on a 94x82 build ,can you still use stock length head bolts ? Or will I need buy longer ones ?
Thanks

Typically with that combo you will need longer studs, but you won't know for certain till you mock it up
